Poetry

This is a genre that is usually difficult to master. Some members of my previous writing circle thought poetry a woman's domain. This obviously isn't true but I suppose more women than men do delve into the realms of poetry. I did find it hard to try, and still find rhyming extremely difficulty to do. When it works though, it is something to admire.

Any writer who has written anything serious will have noticed that in the above text, I have not gone into any technical details of each of the genre. No point. If you know what you are writing then you do not need me to tell you what you are doing.

On some of the following pages I have included some of my own works which I have attempted over the years. As the author I obviously like them all, but some more than others. We all change as we grow older and some of our work which we thought was great many years earlier can make us cringe at a later date.

Not me. If I enjoyed writing it twenty years ago then I would enjoy writing it now. I may do it in a slightly different way ( to keep up with the changes in society) but it is still me that I am putting down on paper.

Do not let anyone bully you into changing your writing style. Learn by all means. Rules are rules but sometimes breaking them makes the difference between a standard piece of work and one which may well get published.

I look forward to receiving comments on this web site and possible inclusion of writer's own works. The more the merrier and that way you can get some feedback and keep warm at the same time. Not that all writing circle meeting places are cold. The noisy pub is probably one exception to the rule.

Please bear with me as I continue to expand the web site. It will alter as required by my own ideas as well as visitors. All constructive critism welcome.
