Hi everyone. I presume if you are reading this you are, like me, interested in writing. I have been concentrating on the Writing Circle I run in Blackburn but have decided to expand this site to, hopefully, appeal to far more potential writers.

As of Saturday 14th November this site will be in process of a complete revamp

I intend to make this site a complete area for writers to come and either express themselves or read other writer's work. I have many ideas for the site. First of all the name will remain the same. I like it and I beleive it is relevant to what I want to achieve.

Running a Writers Circle in Blackburn, I know many of the members cannot make a meeting for whatever reason. There must be many of you out there interested in writing but cannot get to a meeting. Maybe you are phyically unable to attend or you do not have transport.

This was the main reason why I set up the Alternative Writing Circle. Now I want it to be larger and far more interesting. These are my other main ideas for the coming months:

1. Have a membership. I will initially propose a membership fee of £5.00 annually. What will you get for this? A monthly newsletter. Quarterly internal competions with monetary prizes. Have your work included on the website for everyone to read. I will set up a membership form in English, but this site will be open to anyone interested in writing from any country. Writing is international, isn't it? The reason for the fee is not to make myself a web millionaire, but to keep myself warm - and fed - while I work on the site on a daily basis.

2. The newsletter will be produced and sent out as an email attachment. This will save postage - and paper - and I can hopefully presume that everyone who becomes a member will have access to the Internet and email. Members will be free - and encouraged - to send me information to include in the newsletter. This could well be the main part of the site, entertaining as well as educating members.
